Olive M. Swan, age 88, died on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 surrounded by her family at Charleston House Assisted Living in Beaver Dam.
The visitation will be at Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Saturday, August 17, 2013 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. The funeral service will follow at the funeral home on Saturday at 1:30 PM with Rev. Seth Dorn officiating. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Beaver Dam.
The former Olive May Gerke was born on November 18, 1924 in Marathon County, Wisconsin to the late Julius and Hulda (Noth) Gerke. She graduated from Marshfield High School and soon after, moved to Beaver Dam in 1943. Olive worked as a cheese packer at Kraft Foods, retiring in 1986. On August 1, 1973, she was united in marriage with Dennis Swan in Eagle River; he preceded Olive in death in 1996. Olive was a member of St. Stephen’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.
Survivors include her son, Randy (Lynn) Naker of Louisiana, two step children, Colette (Dale) Anderson of Sun Prairie and Bill (Pat) Swan of Portage; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a great great granddaughter; a niece, Gina (Tom) Toutant of Beaver Dam; many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Olive was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Alois, Spencer, Gerald, and Dale Gerke; three sisters, Joyce Manthei, Julia Nienow, and Eloise Peters.
If desired, memorials may be made in Olive M. Swan’s name to St, Stephen’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 300 West Street in Beaver Dam.
