Richard "Dick" Stenberg
Richard “Dick” E. Stenberg, age 83 of Beaver Dam, passed away the morning of October 19, 2013 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.
Dick was born on September 1, 1930 in Watertown, WI to Martin A. and Annabelle (nee Soule) Stenberg. He spent all of his life living in Wisconsin, other than the 6 ½ years he spent serving in the United States Marine Corps, including time in Korea. His loyalty never faded, and he lived the motto “Once a Marine, always a Marine”, befriending every Marine Corps brother he ever met.
Dick was known in the community for his sense of humor and his willingness to lend a hand where needed. His love of the outdoors was expressed through annual camping over the years at Camp Douglas and Lake of the Woods, both in Wisconsin. There trips were highlighted with teaching his grandchildren how to fish, which was a joy for them and those who were blessed to witness the lessons.
Dick is survived by his wife Sharon of 34 years; step-children, Cynthia (Mark) Owen of Chicago, IL, Diana (David) Ziegler of Seymour, WI, Robert Lund of Marinette, WI, Susan Lund of St. Cloud, MN and Jeffrey Lund of Franklin, WI; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Jon Stenberg and many nieces and nephews.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents; his brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Frances Stenberg; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bessie and Harold Frank and Marion and Vern Frank; step-son, David Lund and grandson, Jason Lund.
A Memorial Service for Dick will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at noon at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam.
