Phyllis A. Merrill, age 84, of Beaver Dam, died on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Hillside Manor.

Private family services will be held and cremation has taken place.

The former Phyllis Ann Yaktus was born on June 17, 1929 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to Frank and Lilly R. (Peters) Yaktus. On May 27, 1950 she was united in marriage with Bruce J. “Dutch” Merrill in Beaver Dam. Phyllis worked as a cashier at Beaver Dam Kmart for 13 years. She spent the majority of her life as a homemaker and was a loving mother and grandmother. Phyllis enjoyed swimming at the YMCA and taking her bus trips to the casinos.

Survivors are her children, Pamela Peters of Waupun, Cindy Graff of Wausau, Patrick Merrill of Beaver Dam and Maureen Vance of Eau Claire; grandchildren, Kip (Nancy) Peters of Fox Lake, Ryan (Jeanette) Peters of Fox Lake, Erin (Jeremy) Blum of Cadott, Shannon Wise (Dan Kieffer) of Wausau, Nate Vance of Eau Claire, Luke (Morgan) Vance of Eau Claire, and Nick Vance of Madison; great grandchildren, Stephanie (Simon) Kurt, Eric Anaya, Alyssa Peters and Mayzie Peters, Nolan and Ali Blum, Skylar Wise, Makenna, Landon and Piper Vance; sister, Fran Manske of Beaver Dam; brother, Rollie Yaktus of Beaver Dam; all of her Hillside Manor family; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dutch; brothers, Frank and Terry Yatus; and son-in-law, Dean Graff.
