Obituary: Lona K. Kohn

Lona Kathleen Kohn, age 81, of Marquette, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 10, 2014 at Ripon Medical Center.

Lona was born on August 18, 1932 to Wayne C. and Bess (nee Rowells) Gray in Fond du Lac. She graduated from Markesan High School in 1950 and completed her teaching degree at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1953 and taught in the Ripon School District. Lona was united in marriage on September 8, 1956 to Clifton M. Kohn, and they were blessed with three children. She spent most of her life as a homemaker and also enjoyed reading. Lona was a member of St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Marquette.

Lona is survived by her husband, Clifton of Marquette; her children, Janet (Mark) Whitehouse of Markesan, Gary (Gina) Kohn of Wichita, KS  and Sharon (Gale) Jahnke of Markesan; her grandchildren, Shayna (Andrew) Metzen, Aubree (Ryan) Ralph, Taylor (Jaden Schupp) Kohn, Duncan Kohn, Grace Kohn, Betsy Kohn, Kyle Jahnke, Jordan Jahnke and Caleb Jahnke; her brother-in-law, Lloyd (Nancy) Kohn of Dalton and her sister-in-law, Marlene Kohn of Marquette. She is further survived other relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother-in-law Floyd Kohn and other relatives.

Visitation will take place on Friday, March 14, 2014 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 181 S. Main St., Markesan and also on Saturday, March 15, 2014 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 266 Sherman Ave., Marquette. A Funeral Service for Lona will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church with Rev. Michael Plagenz officiating. Burial will take place at Grand View Cemetery, Marquette.
