Obituary: Donald G. Rake

Donald G. Rake, age 83 of Beaver Dam, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.

Don was born on November 28, 1930 in Beaver Dam to Henry and Stella (nee Lemanski) Rake. He graduated from Beaver Dam High School. After serving his country in the United States Army, he returned home to marry Betty Elitzer in Waupun. Living and working part-time on the family farm just south of Waupun, Don also worked as a corrections officer. He then worked at Silgan Container in Waupun and a member of Teamsters Local 695 for 36 years before retiring in 1996. After his retirement, he farmed part-time with his son Craig and traveled around the Midwest, enjoying life with his wife Betty.

Don is survived by his son, Craig (Barbara) Rake of Beaver Dam; his granddaughter, Tessa (Jason) Olsen of Fall River; step-grandchildren, Kim (Craig) Newton of Reeseville; Chris and Tracy Rueter of Beaver Dam; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty in 2003, 1 great-grandson and 2 brothers, Clarence and Marvin.

In honoring Donald’s wishes, private family services will be held.
