Obituary: Donald E. Knueppel

Donald E. Knueppel, born February 20, 1939, entered eternal life Friday morning, April 18, 2014, with the confidence of forgiveness of his sins through the death and resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ. His body now waits for the great resurrection day when Jesus will return and unite again his soul and body to live forever in heaven with all God’s children.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 12:00 noon at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Juneau, with the Rev. Paul Hirsch officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 22nd from 9:00 – 12:00 noon at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Juneau.  Interment will take place in Juneau City Cemetery in Juneau, WI, with graveside military rites conducted by the Juneau American Legion Post # 15.

Donald was born the son of Albert and Lillian (Sylvester) Knueppel in the township of Hubbard.  He was a 1957 graduate of Juneau High School.  On September 3, 1966, he was united in marriage to his first wife Dorothy Ruske; she preceded him in death in 1997. He was united in marriage to Karen Kohn on March 18, 2000. 

Don was employed at Silgan of Waupun for 34 years. He was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Juneau. Don proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Juneau American Legion Post # 15.  He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, gardening, hunting and living in the country.  Don also enjoyed taking care of his cats, dogs and birds.

Donald is survived by his wife, Karen Kohn-Knueppel of Beaver Dam; his children: Douglas Knueppel of Milwaukee, Dean (Lisa) Knueppel of Juneau, and Daniel Knueppel of West Allis; his step-children: Anthony (Pam) Kohn of Arkansas, Lisa (Tim) Morris of Florida, Andrew (Jessica) Kohn of Beaver Dam, Michelle (Chris) Beekman of Beaver Dam, René (Joe Bunkoske) Kohn of Beaver Dam, Mathew (Dawn) Kohn of Appleton;  8 grandchildren: Lucas and Elizabeth Knueppel, Garrison and Gabrielle Kohn, Christopher Morris, Alisya and Jordan Kohn and Zach Beekman;  2 great grandchildren, Brayden and Madelynn; brothers and sisters: Betty (Richard) Priewe, Charles (Marlene) Knueppel, Margie (Nick) Schmitt and Joyce (Tom) Schurk; further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Dorothy in 1997, his granddaughter Emillie Bunkoske, his great granddaughter Savanah Kohn, his brothers: Alan Schaefer and LeRoy Zunken, and his sister Carol Wielebski.

Memorial donations in Don’s name may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Juneau or to Heartland Hospice.
