Melanie S. Decker, age 33, of Waupun, died on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac, after a valiant five year battle with inflammatory breast cancer.

The visitation will be at Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home, N7199 North Crystal Lake Road, in Beaver Dam on Monday, April 28, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at the funeral home on Monday at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Todd Werner officiating. Burial will be at Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow at First Reformed Church, 422 West Franklin Street in Waupun.

The former Melanie Sybil Gober was born on June 5, 1980 in Dover, Delaware to Scott and Diana (Barton) Gober. On March 26, 2005, she was united in marriage with Dean Decker at New Testament Baptist Church in Columbus. Mel enjoyed scrapbooking, reading, and volleyball but her greatest enjoyment was being a loving wife and mother. Mackenzie was born shortly before Mel’s diagnosis with cancer and every day that she was able to spend loving, supporting, and raising her daughter was a blessing. Through all of the ups and downs of this battle, Melanie never lost sight of her faith and she was so grateful for all the prayers that came from friends and family, as well as all of the cyber support she had received and the support from the community. She prayed for time and every second mattered to Mel.

Survivors are her husband, Dean and daughter, Mackenzie; parents, Scott and Diana Gober; sister, Angela (Rodney) Love; brothers, Thomas Gober and Blake Gober; parents-in-law, Phil and Vicki Decker; sister-in-law, Kari (Mike) Potter; brother-in-law, Dave Decker; several other relatives and many friends.

If desired, memorials may be made to the family and will go towards an educational fund that will be established for Mackenzie.
