Obituary: Jean M. Walsh

Jean M. Walsh, age 60, died Monday, May 5, 2014 at her home in Beaver Dam; she went to bed Sunday evening like any other evening and died in her sleep.

Visitation for Jean will be at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home, N7199 North Crystal Lake Road in Beaver Dam, on Thursday, May 8, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM, and at church on Friday from 10:30 AM to 11:20 AM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Katharine Drexel Church, 511 S. Spring Street in Beaver Dam, on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 11:30 AM. Fr. Michael Erwin will officiate.  Burial will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Beaver Dam.

The former Jean Marie Dorn was born on March 19, 1954 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to Dudley and Iva (Louden) Dorn.  She attended St. Peter’s Grade School and graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1972.  Jean received her Associates Degree from Moraine Park Technical College in Fond du Lac in Secretarial Science and was currently working for the State of Wisconsin.  She was very active in Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Dodge County and served on their Board of Directors.  She enjoyed bowling, going to rummage sales, the Beatles, and she was a Packer fan.  Jean always treasured the times she spent with her nieces and nephews.  She looked forward to Friday Happy Hour with Mike at Stooge’s.  Jean enjoyed pull tabs and always seemed to be lucky when it came to the lottery.  She was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Beaver Dam.

Survivors include her husband, Mike Walsh of Beaver Dam; her mother, Iva Dorn of Beaver Dam; five brothers and sisters, James (Mary) Dorn of Beaver Dam, Mary (Jon) Goetz of Beaver Dam, Russell (Christine) Dorn of Waupun, Michael Dorn of Beaver Dam, and William “Bill” (Norma Jean) Dorn of Beaver Dam; her sister-in-law, Beth Dorn (special friend Curt Heinzelman) of Sun Prairie; nieces and nephews, Joseph Dorn, Jillian (Brett) Grady, Jonathan Dorn, Denise (Justin) Yanke, Joshua (Katelyn) Dorn, Zachary Dorn, Emily Hilt, and Christian Hilt; a great nephew, Beckett Dorn; aunts, uncle, and cousins.  Jean was preceded in death by her father, Dudley Dorn, and two brothers, David and Jerome Dorn.

If desired, memorials may be made in Jean M. Walsh’s name to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Dodge County.
