Obituary: Savilla “Sib” A. Retzlaff

Savilla “Sib” A. Retzlaff, 86, of the town of Westford passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, May 16, 2014 surrounded by her loving family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Annunciation Catholic Parish in Fox Lake with the Rev. Michael L. Wild officiating.  A visitation will also be held on Thursday, May 22nd from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church.  Interment will be at St. Jerome’s Catholic Cemetery in Columbus, WI.

Savilla Anna was born on January 10, 1928 the daughter of Alfred and Verna (Peters) Geiger in Columbus.  On July 19, 1947, she was united in marriage to Walter Retzlaff at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church in Columbus.

Sib was a member of Annunciation Catholic Parish in Fox Lake.  She loved gardening, bird watching, feeding the wild animals and flowers.

Sib is survived by her 12 children: Gary Retzlaff, Dennis (Pauline) Retzlaff both of Beaver Dam, Diane Retzlaff and Debra Retzlaff both of Randolph, Deanna (Jerome) Schaefer of North Fond du Lac, Sandra (Dennis) Eager and Randy (Donna) Retzlaff both of Columbus, Patricia (Craig) Fauser of  Fall River, Richard (Lori) Retzlaff of Randolph, Kathleen (Kim) Standke of Pardeeville, David (Michelle) Retzlaff of Randolph and Karen (Norbert) Hughes of Fox Lake; 21 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; six brothers and sisters: Alfred (Ruth) Geiger Jr. of Columbus, Gennie (Kurt) Kast of Fox Lake, Vernon (Carol) Geiger of Columbus, Joan Karow of Fall River, Beatrice (Don) Dunning of Columbus and Jim (Linda) Geiger of DeForest; brothers and sister-in-law: Doyle Heller of Wyocena, Jerry Tjugum and Lois Geiger both of Columbus. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1997, infant son Joseph, her son Walter Jr. in 2012, three grandchildren: Krystle McClelland, Travis Retzlaff and Justin Hughes; sisters: Arlene Heller and Rosemarie Tjugum and brother Roger Geiger, her brothers and sisters-in-law: Clarence and Verna Retzlaff, Leona and Boyd Bader and Edward Retzlaff. 

Memorial donations in Savilla’s name may be made to the Dodge County Humane Society, or Hillside Hospice and Homecare in Beaver Dam.
