Obituary: Mary M. Berkevich

Mary M. Berkevich, age 72, of Beaver Dam, died unexpectedly on Sunday, June 1, 2014.

There will be a memorial gathering at Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home, N7199 North Crystal Lake Road in Beaver Dam, on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM.  A Memorial Service will follow at the funeral home at 11:00 AM on Wednesday with Fr. Michael L. Wild officiating.  

The former Mary Margaret Kolstad was born on December 27, 1941 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin to the late Lloyd and Dorothy (Knar) Kolstad.  On September 10, 1960, Mary was united in marriage with John Wm. Berkevich at St. Joseph’s Church in Fond du Lac.  She was a wife, mother and grandmother who always put her family before herself and she was a great cook.  Mary loved crafts as well as sewing and quilting.  She also enjoyed wildflowers, reading novels, gardening, and spending time with family.

Mary is survived by her husband, John; five sons, Bill (Pam) of Westfield, Mike (Karen) of Beaver Dam, Jim (Monette) of Lakefield, MN, Dan (Barb) of Burnett, and David (Renee) of Lakeland, FL; 16 grandchildren, Megan (Josh) McAusland of Waterloo, Ashley (fiancé Scott Behringer) of Oshkosh, Emily of Wauwatosa, John (fiancée Katie Lindley ) of Sun Prairie, Joe of Westfield, Jenny (Paul) Walz of Columbus, Bob (Shelly) of DeForest, Laura (Dan) Schultz of Beaver Dam, Amanda (Ben) Zechzer of Reeseville, James Jr. (Christine) of Watertown, Thomas of Watertown, Christopher (Emily) of Beaver Dam, Jessica and Jenna both of Burnett, and Brianna and Jacob both of Lakeland, FL; 7 great grandchildren; five brothers and sisters, Barbara Nett of Fond du Lac, Dave (Rose) Kolstad of Fond du Lac, Sue (Ron) Kolb of Plattsmouth, NE, Steve (Nancy) Kolstad of Fond du Lac, and Kate Kolstad of Sun Prairie; other relatives and friends.  Mary was preceded in death by her father, her mother, her step father,  Clifford Wachs, and her brother, Bill Kolstad.

If desired, memorials may be made in Mary’s name to The Dodge County Food Pantry or the Food Pantry of Lakefield, MN.
