Obituary: Mildred M. Schmitt

Mildred M. Schmitt, age 76, of Beaver Dam, died Friday, June 20, 2014 at Clearview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Juneau.

Visitation for Millie will be at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home, N7199 N. Crystal Lake Road in Beaver Dam, on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  On Wednesday, June 25, 2014, there will be a visitation at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 511 S. Spring Street in Beaver Dam, from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM; a Mass of Christian Burial will follow beginning at 10:30 AM.  Fr. Michael J. Erwin will officiate.  Burial will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Beaver Dam.

The former Mildred Mae Braker was born on April 5, 1938 in Fountain Prairie, Wisconsin to the late Ben and Susan (Anderson) Braker.  She graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1957.  On August 9, 1958, Mildred was united in marriage with Robert C. Schmitt at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam.  She worked at West Bend Company for 30 years and was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish in Beaver Dam.  Millie enjoyed gardening, camping, bowling, playing cards, and putting puzzles together.  Family was very important to her and she would often visit and care for family members that were ill; she also enjoyed babysitting for her grandchildren and spending time with them.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Schmitt of Beaver Dam; four children, Gregg (Kathy) Schmitt of Fitchburg, Jackie (Dan) Neff of Beaver Dam, Shelly (Tim) Kirst of Kewaskum, and Kevin Schmitt of Beaver Dam; seven grandchildren; four sisters, Lucille Miller, Columbus, Joyce (Duke) Eager, Beaver Dam, Sue Carol (Ray) Butterbrodt, Burnett, and Marion (Larry) Freber, Beaver Dam; two brothers, Arthur Braker, Fall River and Joe (Karen) Braker, Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Millie was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Bernard, Kenneth, Ron and Don Braker; and her sister, Betty Lininger.
