Obituary: Ewald Semrau

Ewald Semrau, age 75, of Randolph, died on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Golden Living Center – Continental Manor.

The visitation will be at Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home, N7199 North Crystal Lake Road in Beaver Dam on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Chuck Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Fox Lake.

Ewald Semrau was born on February 26, 1939 in Lipno, Poland to Adolf and Natalja (Guse) Semrau. He was born and raised in Poland and came to the United States in 1952, settling in West Virginia. Ewald then moved to Waterford, Wisconsin and later to Beaver Dam. He worked for Kirsh Foundry for more than 30 years. On February 26, 1939, he was united in marriage with Lylas Raabe at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Jefferson. Ewald’s favorite thing to do was watch his family grow.

Survivors are his wife, Lylas of Randolph; children, Jodie (John) Wiese of Rosendale, and Tim (Nikki) Semrau of Beaver Dam; grandchildren, Clayton (Anne) Drewa of West Bend, Dan (Maggie) Drewa of Waupun, Brandon and Brittany Wiese of Rosendale, and Chandler, Landon, Alivia, Daniel and Katelynn Semrau of Beaver Dam; one great grandchild; stepmother, Martha Semrau; brothers, Sigismund (Linda) Semrau of Mayville, Hartmund (Robin) Semrau of Darien, and Wolfgang (Sharon) Semrau of Waupun; son-in-law, Clayton (Arlene) Drewa, Sr.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Karen Drewa.
