Obituary: James “Jim” J. Csiacsek

James “Jim” J. Csiacsek, 83, of Beaver Dam passed away peacefully on Monday, September 15, 2014 at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

James Joseph was born the son of Jacob and Anna (Hasenstab) Csiacsek on August 29, 1931 in Beaver Dam.  He was a graduate of Beaver Dam High School.  He was married to Stella Bergeron on October 2, 1954 in Winooski, Vermont, who preceded him in death on December 9, 1992.  He was later married to Rebecca Van Loo on July 4, 1998 in Reeseville. 

Jim proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, where he stationed as a medic overseas.  Upon moving to Beaver Dam in the 1950’s, he was employed with MetalFab as a supervisor.  He also owned and operated Jim’s Live Bait and also Grandpa’s Woodworking Shop, where he made birdhouses.  He was an avid collector of duck decoys, loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He enjoyed spending time at Pete’s cabin in Black Falls. He was also an avid Packer fan. He was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish and a past member of the Beaver Dam American Legion Post # 146.

Jim is survived by his wife Becky of Beaver Dam; his children: Peter (Mary) Csiacsek of Holmen, WI, Timothy (Christine) Csiacsek and MaryAnn (Mike) Otto both of Beaver Dam, Michael (Peggy) Csiacsek of Fond du Lac, Bonnie (Scott) Ellis of Wausau, Patrick Csiacsek of Beaver Dam, Noelle (David) Brandenburg of Theresa; his step-children: Chad (Brenda) Van Loo and Sue (Tim) Paitrick both of Beaver Dam; 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and two more expected.  He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Janice Kolitz and his first wife Stella, his brothers: John and Richard Csiacsek and his sister Katherine Rux.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Katharine Drexel Parish.

A visitation for Jim will be held on Thursday, September 18th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home, N7199 N. Crystal Lake Road, Beaver Dam and on Friday, September 19th from Noon – 1:00 p.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 511 S. Spring Street, Beaver Dam. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the church.  Interment will be at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Beaver Dam with graveside military honors by the Beaver Dam American Legion Post # 146.
