Obituary: Gordon Bush

Gordon Bush, age 98 of Markesan, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Markesan Resident Home.

Gordon was born December 6, 1915 to Arthur Darius Bush and Violet Ione (Kidney) Bush in the township of Hampden in Columbia County, WI. He was the eldest of five sons. Gordon attended grade school at Marcellon Stone School and high school at Portage. On October 14, 1939, Gordon married Arlene R. Owen. He enjoyed his years that he operated his own trucking business and farmed. He worked for Associated Milk Producers, Inc. (AMPI) for 25 years, retiring on March 1, 1981. Since 1989, Gordon enjoyed being actively involved in the National Senior Olympics, earning many awards and an induction into the Wisconsin Senior Olympic Hall of Fame.

Gordon was very proud of his family and loved them all. Gordon and Arlene had six children: Virginia "Ginny" (Gabe - deceased) Long of Romance, AK, Gale (Marti) of Cambridge, Randy (Kathy) of Oklahoma, Thomas (deceased at four days), Susan (Mike) Dornfeld of Cambria and Steven (Trudi) Fairwater; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Arlene passed away on May 8, 1997 after 57-1/2 years of marriage. He then married Kathleen E. Mobley of Ontario, Canada on March 5, 2002.

He had four brothers, Kenneth (deceased) and Charlotte (deceased); Russell (deceased) and Norma; Stanley (deceased) and Mary Lou, and Charles and Mary. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Thomas Owen, his wife Arlene, and a daughter-in-law, Sharon (Randy).

Visitation for Gordon will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 181 S. Main St., Markesan. A graveside service will take place on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, town of Kingston.
