Obituary: Marilyn J. Haas

Marilyn J. Haas, age 82 of Kingston, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014 at Berlin Memorial Hospital.

Marilyn was born on February 19, 1932, to Clarence and Leonora (Dahms) Mielke. A graduate of Markesan High School, Marilyn earned her teaching degree from North Central College in Naperville, and returned to Markesan to teach Home Economics and Family Living. She taught for over 25 years, sharing her knowledge with three generations of students. Marilyn was united in marriage to Robert L. Haas on July 31, 1955 at Markesan United Methodist Church. She was an avid Bridge player, enjoyed reading and traveling, and volunteered at numerous organizations. Marilyn was a member of Kingston United Methodist Church and a founding member of the Kingston Historical Preservation Society.

Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Stuart) Linger of Markesan, Cindy Haas of Milwaukee and Sally (Drew) Cressman of Nashville, TN; her son, Chuck Haas of Kingston; four granddaughters, Stefanie (Frank) Wade, Nicole Linger, Kendall Cressman and Hannah Cressman; her grandson, Derek Cressman; her sister, Luann (John) Molitor of Racine; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert in 2000 and other relatives.

A Memorial Service for Marilyn will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Kingston United Methodist Church with Rev. Brenda Grams officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service at church, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Inurnment will take place at Kingston Cemetery.

Memorials in Marilyn’s name may be directed to the Kingston Historical Preservation Society or Kingston United Methodist Church.
