Gerald Herbert Nitz, age 63 of Markesan, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2014 from a heart attack in his home.

Gerald was born on July 8, 1951 in Ripon, WI, son of Herbert and Adeline (Floeter) Nitz. Jerry purchased half of his father’s dairy farm in 1972. He married Margaret Jobe in Oxford, WI in 1974. He then bought the other half of the farm where they raised their five children. In 2002 Jerry and his oldest son, Andrew formed Busy Bee Acres, LLC. Jerry had a strong work ethic and was a proud steward of the land for three generations on the dairy farm. Jerry provided unconditional love and was a rock for his family. He was deep-rooted in his faith and always sought direction and guidance from the Lord. He was a true-life example of God’s love. He encouraged people to reach for their dreams, and expected people to be their best. Jerry could always be counted on for a kind smile and wave, and he never missed the opportunity to lend a helping hand. When push came to shove, he was there to get the job done, but he was also there to wipe away a tear when needed. Jerry was very humble, yet strong-willed, assertive and determined. He had a great sense of humor and love for nature.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Margaret of 40 years; four children, Andrew (Rachel) of Markesan, Michael (Heidi) of Sun Prairie, Jessica (Jeremy Bieberitz) of Marshall and Pamela (Michael) Miller of Port Angeles, WA; grandchildren, Danielle, Abagail, Cassady, Kiera, Maegan, Alex and Ashton; his mother, Adeline Nitz; mother-in-law, Vernelia Jobe; two sisters, Ardith (Hollis) Hasty of Montrose,CO and Beverly (Larry) Kastenschmidt of Ripon; other relatives and friends.
