October is celebrated as Manufacturing Month across nation.  The Manufacturing Business Alliance of the Dodge County region, in conjunction with the Beaver Dam Chamber of Commerce, Beaver Dam High School (BDHS) and area manufacturers, hosted tours of several facilities on Thursday, October 23rd in Beaver Dam.

The tours highlighted the modern, clean working environments of a typical 21st Century manufacturer, including foundries, and promoted the lifelong, family supporting careers young people can find in the manufacturing industry.

BDHS teacher Joe Kutzler and other faculty members chaperoned youth on tours of Kirsh Foundry, Apache Stainless Equipment and Breuer Metal Craftsmen, before the group ended the day at the Moraine Park Technical College (MPTC) Campus in Beaver Dam adjacent to BDHS.  MPTC, a strong partner in providing training for many manufacturing careers, provided lunch and presentations for the youth on career paths and degrees that could be followed through the college for both pre and post employment in the manufacturing world.
