Obituary: Clare “Kay” Ann Halfmann

Clare “Kay” Ann Halfmann, 78 years old, of Beaver Dam, passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2014, at her home.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 31st at 1:00 p.m. at the Koepsell Murray Funeral Home, N7199 N. Crystal Lake Road, Beaver Dam with the Rev. Jeff Nicholas officiating.  A visitation will also be held on Friday, October 31st from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Koepsell Murray Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Clare “Kay” was born the daughter of Louie and Anna (Tamminga) Elgersma on August 4, 1936. She was a 1954 graduate of Cambria High School. Kay was united in marriage to her 1st husband Richard Halfmann on January 14, 1956, who preceded her in death. Later she was married to her 2nd husband Roland Halfmann on April 19, 1963 in Pine County, MN.

Kay was employed in management by Walkers Restaurant and Jennifer’s Restaurant in Beaver Dam for 28 years. She was also employed at the Columbus Nursing and Rehab for 8 ½ years. She also escorted many casino trips after her retirement.  She was an avid Packer’s Fan.  She was a member of Trinity Church United Methodist in Beaver Dam. Kay was a very elegant and poised woman. She was extremely organized and hard working. Kay was very dedicated to her family and friends whom she loved deeply. 

Kay is survived by her son Rick Alan Halfmann of Whitewater, WI; 2 step-sons: Mark Halfmann of Columbus, and Brad Halfmann of Elkhorn; her sister Gertie (Clarence) Katsma of Cambria; her brother Luke (Bernie) Elgersma of Florida; her brother-in-law Ronald Halfmann; her sister-in-law Mary Halfmann; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Kay is preceded in death by her parents, her 1st husband Richard in 1959, her 2nd husband Roland in 1989, her infant nephew Gary Katsma, and her mother and father-in-law.

Memorials may be directed to Trinity Church United Methodist Food Pantry in Beaver Dam.
