Obituary: Eunice H. Burchardt

Eunice H. Burchardt went to be with her Lord on Friday, November 7, 2014 at the Charleston House in Beaver Dam.

Eunice Henrietta was born May 6, 1929 in the town of Beaver Dam.  She was the youngest child of Frank and Clara (Reinke) Genrich.  Eunice lived in the Beaver Dam area and attended schools there.  In 1945, she moved with her family to a farm near Randolph and graduated from Randolph High School in 1946.

In June of 1948, she married Howard Hanefeld.  Eunice worked alongside her husband in the early years of the family trucking business, Hanefeld Bros. Trucking in Burnett.  He preceded her in death.

In June of 1972, Eunice married Eugene “Gene” Burchardt and they made their home in Horicon for 32 years.  She was a school bus driver for 10 years for the Horicon School District.  But most of all, Eunice treasured the time she spent with her family.

Gene preceded her in death in 2004, since that time she has resided in Beaver Dam.  Eunice was a member of St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.

Eunice is survived by her children: Roger (Jan) Hanefeld of Burnett, Debra (Thomas) Sutton of Amelia Island, Florida, Steven (Beverly) Hanefeld of Brandon and Linda (Mike) Vollrath of North Freedom; her grandchildren: Casey Sutton of Florida, Amanda (Ben) Zelinsky of New York, Justin Hanefeld of Moorehead, MN, Mike (Susie) Shmule of Sun Prairie, Keegan McLallen of Hartford, and Kayla (John) Crawford of Slinger; seven great grandchildren; her sister Ruth Cook of Beaver Dam; sister-in-law Jullienne Genrich of  the town of Waunakee, sister-in-law JoAnn Burchardt of Beaver Dam.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Eunice was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Howard in 1970, her second husband Gene in 2004, three sisters: Doris Selk, Leora Day and Norma Rieman and two brothers: Frederick Genrich and Franklin Genrich.

Funeral services for Eunice will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam with the Rev. Paul Stratman officiating.  A visitation will also be held on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church.  Burial will follow.

Memorial donations in Eunice’s name may be directed to St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.
