Obituary: Carlton ”Carl” Andrew Ruhland

Carlton ”Carl” Andrew Ruhland, 77 years old, of Beaver Dam, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2014 at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

A Mass of Christian Burial will held at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church on Friday, November 28th at 1:00 p.m., with Father Mike Wild celebrating the Mass. A visitation will be held on Friday, November 28th from 10:30 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. Mass. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens, Tn. of Trenton.

Carl was born on September 2, 1937 the only child of Alvin and Linda (Indermuehle) Ruhland in Beaver Dam, WI. He was a graduate of Beaver Dam High School. Carl was united in marriage to Amelda Griepentrog on September 8, 1962 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam.  He was employed as a parts manager at various places including Rissman-Gamble, Hoag Motors, & Tom Reilly Motors.

Carl was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish of Beaver Dam. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Carl was the scorekeeper at the Beaver Dam Raceway, was the past president of the Beaver Dam Lake Fisherman’s Club, and was an avid bowler in the Beaver Dam Bowling League.

Carl is survived by: his wife Amelda of Beaver Dam; his daughter Judith (Michael) Beekman of Horicon; his sons- Thomas (Gini) Ruhland of Fox Lake and Paul Ruhland of Princeton; 5 granddaughters – Sarah (Brandon) Fair, Elizabeth Ruhland, Rachel Ruhland, Carly Ann Ruhland, and Meghan Beekman; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Carl is preceded in death by his parents.

Carl was a 1998 Heart Transplant Recipient. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Laurie Ferber Transplant Fund, c/o U.W. Foundation, U.S. Bank Lockbox, Box 78807, Milwaukee, WI  53278-0807.

The family would like to thank U.W. Heart Transplant Team, Beaver Dam Community Hospital Home Health, Marita Tietz, and Rita Burmania for their compassionate care for Carl over the years.
