MAYVILLE |   Sandra J. Finke, 72, Mayville, passed peacefully into her Savior’s loving arms on Thursday, December 18, 2014 with her husband at her side.

Her unending faith, strength, and passion for life were an inspiration to all those who were blessed to have known her.

A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Sandi will be deeply missed by David, her beloved husband of 48 years, her two children, Troy and Stacie and their spouses Elaine and Gene, and the five grandchildren she called some of God’s greatest blessings:  Kylie, Josie, Cass, Josh, and Holly.

Sandi was born September 20, 1942 in Bremen, Kansas, to Clifford and Ethel (Duever) Prell. She attended Immanuel Lutheran Grade School in Bremen, graduated high school in Hanover, Kansas in 1959, and Concordia Lutheran College in 1963.

She began her teaching career at St. John’s Lutheran School in West Bend, WI in 1964, married David in Bremen, Kansas in 1966, moved to Mayville and continued teaching grade school at St. John’s Lutheran School in Mayville until 1984.

Spending time with her children and “Grammy Time” with her grandkids were two of Sandi’s greatest joys.  She was also an avid gardener, quilter, seamstress, and cook, and could often be found tending her plants, sewing her next project, making another batch of homemade soup, or spending time chatting with her sisters and the many friends and neighbors she cared for deeply.  She was also a devoted member of St. John’s Church, where she served on Altar Guild and as Prayer Chain Coordinator for many years.

In addition to her husband, children, and grandchildren, Sandi is survived by her Aunt Bernice Stohs of Wichita, 4 sisters: Jan (Bob) Kelleher of N. Babylon, NY, Jean (Dick) Ballou of Mikana, WI, Christine Suprenand of Fond du Lac, WI, and Diane Prell of Derby, KS, 20 nieces, nephews, & spouses, 20 great nieces & nephews, and many, cherished friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Clifford & Ethel Prell, parents-in-law Arthur & Irma Finke, brother-in-law Arthur Finke, Jr., five uncles and three aunts.

Sandi’s funeral service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 450 Bridge Street, Mayville, on Monday, December 22 at 1:00 pm, with Rev. Sean Willman officiating.  A visitation will be held at the church from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, with the service immediately following.  Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Mayville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Sandi’s name may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mayville.
