Obituary: Jessie E. Meyers

Jessie E. Meyers, age 95 of Kingston, passed away peacefully at the Barrett House in Markesan on Wednesday, January 7, 2015.

Jessie was born on April 18, 1919, the daughter of John B. and Effie (Gray) Ring. She attended Rock Hill Grade School, Kingston High School and graduated from Markesan High School with the Class of 1936. She attended Green Lake County Normal and Oshkosh Teachers College and taught in rural schools in Green Lake County. Jessie married Ray Charles Nixon, who gave his life in service to his country in the United States Navy during World War II. On August 2, 1947, she married Dr. Orrin E. Meyers. Jessie loved plants and flowers and was an avid golfer. She was a member of the Kingston United Methodist Church.

Jessie is survived by her son, Jack (Bev) Meyers of Dalton; her sister, Lola Arndt of Markesan; nieces and nephews, Cynthia (Ken) Burmania, John (Jeannie) Hein, James (Lenita) Hein, Cathleen (Pat) McGowan, Orville Stobb, Patsy Knight and Joan Knight and other family and friends.

Jessie was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; her siblings, Nyla (Walter) Knight, Edmund (Blanche) Ring, Clifton (Esther) Ring, Edith (Eugene) Hein; brother-in-law, Dean E. Arndt; daughter-in-law, Janice Meyers; nieces and nephews, Diane Knight, Keith Knight, Arnold Knight, Colleen (Ring) Stobb, Christine (Ring) Ed Koenen.

In accordance with Jessie’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. Inurnment will take place at Kingston Cemetery.
