Just south of Beaver Dam along Highway 151 is this lone oak tree in the middle of a cornfield. Over my life I have driven past this tree hundreds of times always thinking I should stop to capture an image. A couple of years ago I finally did stop. I remember wading in deep snow to reach the fence, the trucks roaring by causing my tripod to shake, my hands going numb from the freezing cold. I’m curious why this particular tree was spared from the saw? Why did the property owner decide to leave it stand? Does the tree have a significant meaning to the owner? Whatever the reason, I’m glad the owner left the tree as is. Enjoy!
