Obituary: Erika H. Olmstead

Erika H. Olmstead, age 66 of Markesan, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the Markesan Resident Home.

Erika was born on August 1, 1948  in Austria, the daughter of Josef and Katharina (Wellmann) Halik. In February 1968, she was united in marriage to Richard Omstead at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Jefferson. Erika was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Kingston and the Kingston Lioness Club, serving as Past President. She loved to play pool, shake dice, shoot darts and go bowling. Erika never hesitated to put others first; she had a heart of gold and was very generous and giving of her time. She enjoyed traveling, especially back to her homeland of Austria.

 Erika is survived by her father, Josef of Jefferson; her granddaugther, Amy Jo Neuman of LaCrosse; her sister, Marge (Ed) Anderson of Jefferson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother;, her husband; her children, Roseann and Thomas; her maternal and paternal grandparents and other relatives.

A Funeral Service for Erika will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 316 Vine St., Kingston with Rev. Frank Rose officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service at church, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place at Kingston Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to Kingston Lion and Lioness Club.
