Melvin N. Schneider, age 75 of Beaver Dam, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Beaver Dam Community Hospital after a courageous five year battle with cancer.
Melvin was born on January 5, 1940 in Colby, WI, the son of George and Marie (Punke) Schneider. He graduated from Colby High School in 1959 and worked for over 30 years at Mayville Metal, before retiring in 1998. Melvin was united in marriage to Pat Donahue on October 11, 1996 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. He was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish and Knights of Columbus, both in Beaver Dam. His hobbies included fishing, traveling, gardening and photography. He enjoyed watching the Badgers, Packers and Brewers, of course always while wearing a matching team cap.
Melvin is survived by his wife, Pat of Beaver Dam; his daughters, Judy (Greg) MacDonald of Markesan and Cindy (Kevin) Fredrick of Ixonia; grandchildren, Avery (Lindsey) Schroeder, Derek Schroeder, Ben (Nicole) Hilbert Jr., Justine Hilbert; great-grandchildren, Owen, Ellie, Cora, Cole, Adeline; his siblings, Verland (Sherry) Schneider, George (Delores) Schneider, Florence (Everett) Johnson, Dan (Dar) Schneider; his sister-in-law, Ann Champine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Florence; daughter, Dawn; son, Mark and other relatives.
A Funeral Service for Melvin will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam with Fr. Charles Scheuerell officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service at Cornerstone, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, Beaver Dam, followed by a luncheon served back at Cornerstone.
