Jean A. Wadleigh, age 87, of Beaver Dam, died Monday, March 16, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.

A memorial gathering will be held at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 511 South Spring Street in Beaver Dam, on Friday, March 27, 2015 from 10:00 am to 11:20 am.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at church on Friday at 11:30 am.  Fr. Michael Erwin will officiate.  Inurnment will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Beaver Dam.

Jean was born on February 18, 1928 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to the late Mike and Emilie (Waldeck) Ptaschinski and later graduated from Beaver Dam High School.  Jean was united in marriage with Paul Yasger who died from injuries he sustained in the Korean War.  Some years later, Jean was united in marriage with Eugene Wadleigh.  They spent many wonderful years together and he also preceded Jean in death.  Through the years, Jean worked for the telephone company and as a retail clerk at several Beaver Dam department stores.  She was an active member of St. Patrick’s Parish and would volunteer as a room mother, as well as, helping the nuns with many different projects.  She was also active in the Beaver Dam Area Community Theater and helped in the costume department.  Jean had a great sense of humor and always had a positive attitude.  She loved life and that was evident by the many friends she had.  Whether it was playing cards, telling jokes at a class reunion, or just getting together with friends to chat, Jean had a natural way of being the life of the party.  Jean moved to the Charleston House in April of 2014 and made many special friends who were like family to her.  She will always be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother and she leaves us rich in memories.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Mary Beth (Scott) Ehlenfeldt of Beaver Dam; two grandchildren, Amy (Hal)  Sindelar of Beaver Dam and Elizabeth (Chris) Houtakker of Henderson, NV; three great grandchildren,  Owen, Elly, and Ethan; other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and two brothers, “Happy” Ptaschinski and Bill Ptaschinski.
