Obituary: Elmer J. Kikkert

Elmer J. Kikkert, 85, of Beaver Dam passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Clearview Long Term Care and Rehab. in Juneau.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home, N7199 N. Crystal Lake Rd., Beaver Dam with the Rev. Christopher Davis officiating.  A visitation will also be held on Wednesday, April 1st from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Beaver Dam American Legion to pay their respects at 10:30 a.m.  Military honors will be conducted by the John E. Miller American Legion Post 146 of Beaver Dam immediately following the funeral at the funeral home.  Inurnment will take place at Highland Memory Gardens, township of Trenton at a later date.

Elmer John was born the son of John and Jennie (Posthuma) Kikkert on March 2, 1930 in Columbia County, WI.  He was married to Charlene Mahanes on May 29, 1953 in Aurora, CO.  Elmer served his country in the United States Army.  He was employed in transportation with Clearview Nursing Home in Juneau from 1960 to 1995.  Elmer was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Beaver Dam and of the John E. Miller American Legion Post 146 of Beaver Dam.

Elmer is survived by his wife of 61 years, Charlene of Beaver Dam; his children: Edwin (Joy) Kikkert of Beaver Dam, Robert (Lynda) Kikkert of Charles City, VA, and Gail Kastein of Beaver Dam; his grandchildren: Scott (Caroline) Kikkert, Adam (Brandi) Kikkert, Tony (Becky) Kikkert, Zachary (fiancée, Felicia Reader) Kastein, Erika Kastein, Trevor Kastein, and Jeremy Kastein; 10 great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Mabel Mahanes of Ohio; and further survived by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Gary, and his brother, Eugene.
