Obituary: Betty J. Lange

Betty J. Lange, 78, of Beaver Dam passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at UW Hospital in Madison.

Betty was born the daughter of George and Susie (Pfeifer) Huebner on March 11, 1937 in Randolph, WI.  She was a graduate of Randolph High School.  Betty was married to Raymond “Bud” Lange on April 24, 1964 at First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.  She was employed with Clearview Nursing Home in Juneau, beginning as a dish washer and retiring as its food service manager after 35 years. 

Betty was a member of First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.  She along with Bud ran a junior bowling program in Beaver Dam, and later owned Centennial Lanes in Beaver Dam.  She enjoyed crafts and attending craft fairs both in Wisconsin and Minnesota.  Betty also loved to golf and was the winner of the Beaver Dam City Tournament and was Sunset Hills Country Club’s five-time club champion.  She will be remembered for her cooking skills especially baking for church events and auctioning off her poppy seed torte during the Children’s Radiothon.  Her kindness was also felt in the baking of her Christmas cookies and her giving them out throughout the community.  She will be missed.

Betty is survived by her husband of 51 years, Raymond “Bud” of Beaver Dam; her daughter, Roxanne Goeltz of Burnsville, MN; her grandchildren: Derrick Goeltz of Hamilton, MT, Cory Lange of Beaver Dam and Kara Lange of Beaver Dam; her brother, John Huebner of Beaver Dam; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her two sons: Craig and Mike, and her eight siblings.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam with the Revs. Mark Jensen and Terry Larson officiating.  A memorial gathering will also be held on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the church.  Inurnment will take place at Highland Memory Gardens, township of Trenton, WI.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Betty’s name may be directed to the family.
