Obituary: Charlene V. Beal

Charlene V. Beal, 74, of Beaver Dam passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at UW Hospital in Madison.

A memorial gathering will be held from 2:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home, N7199 N. Crystal Lake Rd. in Beaver Dam.  A memorial service will follow beginning at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Char was born the daughter of Carl and Marietta (Austin) Carlson on December 26, 1940 in Sioux City, IA.  She was a graduate of Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN with a bachelor’s degree in teaching.  Char taught in a one room school in Oak Grove, WI for several years after college.  It was in Oak Grove where she met Roger H. Beal.  She then moved to Omaha and continued to teach for one year until her marriage to Roger on June 20, 1964.  After they married and the birth of three children, Char was employed with the Beaver Dam School District as a teacher’s aid for the Title One Program until her retirement in 2003.  During her career in Beaver Dam, she was recognized as Aid of the Year.  Charlene will be remembered for her love of flower gardening, great cooking, and as an active member of the Friday Morning Breakfast Club. 

Charlene is survived by her husband, Roger of Beaver Dam; three children: Caryl Beal of Iron Ridge, Robert Beal of Appleton, and Lynda Beal of Beaver Dam; four grandchildren: Brandie, Autumn, Tori, and Jacob Beal; two great-grandchildren: Shardae and Kaydon Williams; and further survived by other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Charlene’s name may be directed to the UW-Hospital or to the UW Carbone Cancer Center in Madison.
