Obituary: Allen G. Friday

Allen G. Friday, 67, of Iron Ridge passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Angels Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church in Iron Ridge with the Rev. Larry Mose officiating.  A visitation will also be held on Saturday from Noon until 2 p.m. at the church.  Interment will take place at St. Matthew Cemetery in Iron Ridge.

Allen was born the son of George and Doris (Schultz) Friday on August 12, 1947 in Hustisford.  He was married to Cheryl Jean Berkholtz on August 17, 1973 at St. John-St. James Lutheran Church in Reedsville, WI.  Al was employed with MEC in Mayville for 30 years until his retirement.  He was also employed with PS Seasoning in Iron Ridge.  Al was a dedicated fireman where he served with the Iron Ridge Fire Department for 50 years. 

Al was a member of St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church in Iron Ridge.  He will be remembered as a “people person,” who always enjoyed visiting with people and “giving them a hard time.”  Al was a very loyal man especially to his fire department and his family and friends.  He was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Al is survived by his mother, Doris Friday of Hustisford; his brother, David (Sue) Friday of Milwaukee; his sister, Pam Kuehl of Hustisford; his mother-in-law, Harriet Berkholtz of Reedsville; his sister-in-law, Karen (Marvin) Grall of Reedsville; his brother-in-law, Daniel (Margaret) Berkholtz of Reedsville; his nieces and nephews: Mickie (Jeff) Fuller of Milwaukee, Lindsay Kuehl of Wauconda, IL, Jenna (Scott) Murphy of Milwaukee, Samantha Kuehl of La Crosse, Tim (Mary) Grall of Columbus, Stacie (Jeffrey) Hojnacki of Milwaukee, Bryan (Cristy) Berkholtz of Appleton, Lisa (Jason) Nate of Kimberly, Erin (Adam) Clausen of Combined Locks; and further survived by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, George, his wife, Cheryl in 2011, and his father-in-law, Elroy Berkholtz.

Al’s family would like to express deep thanks to Angels Grace Hospice for their kindness and great care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church in Iron Ridge.
