Obituary: Joyce E. Glasrud

Joyce E. Glasrud, 85, a resident of the Remembrance Home in Beaver Dam and formerly of Madison and Columbus passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2015.

Joyce was born on January 26, 1930 in Madison to Carl and Lenice (Knapp) Wallace.  She was a graduate of Madison East High School.  Joyce was married to LaVerne Linde in 1949 in Columbus.  She was later married to George Glasrud in 1985 in Madison.  She was employed as a secretary for Oscar Meyer for 11 years until her retirement. 

During her lifetime, Joyce enjoyed fishing, playing cards, dancing, visiting the Vilas Zoo, Traveling, picking up shells on the beach in Florida, and loved living in Madison, especially near the lakes.

In her senior years, she enjoyed Friday nights at the Madison Elks Club and various events at the East Side Club.

Joyce is survived by her two children: Karen Schmidt of Beaver Dam and Bruce (Cindy) Linde of Stockbridge, GA; five grandchildren: Kimberly Koehn and Ryan Koehn both of Beaver Dam, Brittany (fiancé Anmar Cromwell) Linde of San Antonio, TX, Kyla (Joel Sievert) Linde of Chapel Hill, NC, and Shea Linde of Athens, GA; her step-children: Richard (Sharon) Glasrud of Madison and Scott (Sarah) Glasrud of Leawood, Kansas; three step-grandchildren: Eric Glasrud of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Jason (Brooke) Glasrud of Kansas and Amy (John) Bednarz of Kansas; her siblings: June Ladwig of Fargo, ND and Richard (Barbara) Wallace of Somerset, Mass; her sister-in-law, Shirley Wallace of Cottage Grove; her former husband, LaVerne (Evangeline Berg) Linde of Columbus; as well as other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father Carl Ladwig, her husband George; five siblings: James, Stanley , Walton, and Robert Wallace and Betty Myers, and a grandson in infancy.

It was Joyce’s wish that no formal services be held and a private family gathering be held at a later date.

Joyce’s family wishes to thank all the care givers at the Remembrance Home for their care and support.
