Obituary: Wilbur C. “Huntz” Hensler

Wilbur C. “Huntz” Hensler, 79, of Beaver Dam passed away on Monday, August 3, 2015 at Clearview Long Term Care in Juneau.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 7, 2015 from 2 p.m. until 3:50 p.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Church in Beaver Dam.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4 p.m. on Friday at church with the Rev. Michael Erwin officiating.  Inurnment will be held at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Cemetery in Lake Five, WI.

Wilbur Carl was born the son of Wilbur J. and Lorraine (Ruehl) Hensler on August 11, 1935 in Germantown.  He converted to Catholicism prior to marriage and remained close to his faith.  Wilbur married Patricia Mary Persick on July 26, 1958 at St. Columba in Lake Five.  Huntz was passionate about being a mechanic and ran the Skelly Service Station in Lake Five for 17 years.  He was a people person who enjoyed spending time with people and children.  In his younger years, Huntz enjoyed trap shooting and dart ball.  Huntz also enjoyed watching sports, especially the Brewers, Packers and racing.  He was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish in Beaver Dam. 

Huntz is survived by his loving wife Patricia of Beaver Dam; his five children: Debbie Hensler of CA, Mark Hensler of Beaver Dam, John Hensler of Beaver Dam, Denise Hensler of OH, and Diane (Jeff) LaVine of SD; five grandchildren: Daniel and Nicole Hensler, Jared LaVine, Heather (Jimmy) Murphy, and Tanner B. Harper; three great-grandchildren: Michaela Hensler, and Joel and Jameson Linke; his siblings: Dennis (Joanne) Hensler of Slinger, Dona Lofy of Platteville, and Helene Kilian of Friesland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six children: two sons: Mike and Eddie and four children in infancy, and two brothers-in-law: Frank Lofy and Don Kilian.
