Central Wisconsin Christian ACT scores reach record high

The Class of 2015 at Central Wisconsin Christian recorded the highest composite score in school history on the ACT test this past year, according to scores released this morning by the College Board.

Nineteen of 22 members of the class (86%) took the exam, utilized by most colleges and universities as a college entrance exam.  The class composite score for 2015 was 26.3, more than four points above the state average of 22.2 and the national average of 21.1.

This year’s class also established the highest score benchmarks for Central Wisconsin Christian by scoring a 26.6 in English, 25.3 in Mathematics, and 28.1 in Reading.  In Science Reasoning, the class of 2015 scored a 24.8, just off the standard set in 2009 of 25.3.

The five-year and ten-year averages for graduates from Central Wisconsin Christian continue to trend upward and compare favorably with schools around the area.  “These ACT test scores are an encouraging snapshot and measuring stick of the academic quality that our students are receiving at Central Wisconsin Christian,” remarked CWC Administrator Mark Buteyn.  “When combined with the Christ-centered perspective that our staff brings to our classrooms, we continue to strive to fulfill our mission to prepare kids for lives of service to Christ.”

Also encouraging is the fact that 85% of CWC seniors have taken the ACT over the past 10 years.  “The high majority of our students are being led to take the ACT, and our Guidance Office continues to encourage students to explore post-secondary opportunities,” said Gregg Zonnefeld, Director of Advancement.  “Most schools have around half their kids take the ACT, and our high participation level reflects the broad scope of the class make-up, not just the upper level students.”

Begun in 1948, Central Wisconsin Christian provides a Christ-centered education to nearly 300 preK-12th grade students in a 30-mile radius of Waupun, including communities in Dodge, Fond du Lac, Columbia, and Green Lake Counties.  An interdenominational school, families from 44 churches in 17 denominations are a part of the CWC community.
