Obituary: Twyla M. Muenchow

Twyla M. Muenchow, age 91, of Waupun, died Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Waupun Memorial Hospital.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home, N7199 North Crystal Lake Road in Beaver Dam, on Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  A memorial service will follow on Thursday at the funeral home at 3:00 p.m. with Chaplain Dennis Overlien officiating.  Inurnment will be at St. Patrick Cemetery in Beaver Dam. 

Twyla was born on August 9, 1924 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to the late Lester and Ida (Thoma) Schwoch.  She graduated from Beaver Dam High School and later from Columbus Normal School.  Twyla taught school for many years at St. Patrick’s Elementary School, South Beaver Dam Elementary School, and several other schools in the Beaver Dam and Waupun areas.  On November 6, 1948, she was united in marriage with Douglas Muenchow at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Beaver Dam.  Twyla loved trap shooting, bowling, playing cards with friends, canning, and most of all sharing time with family and friends.

 Survivors include her husband, Douglas of Waupun; her children, Gary Muenchow (Joan Cooper) of Randolph, Cindy (Tony) Janz of Beaver Dam, and Scott (Robbie) Muenchow of Beaver Dam,; grandchildren, Shelly (Todd) Ascherien of Beaver Dam, Troy Heine of Waupun, Amy Muenchow of Beaver Dam, Casey (Angel) Heine of Osceola, Randy Boomsma of Dalton, and Mike Boomsma and Justin Boomsma of Randolph; great grandchildren, Brady Ascherien, Austin Shaver, and Tucker Boomsma; her sisters, Lorraine Gould and Joan Gedamke both of Beaver Dam; sisters-in-law, Carol McCackern of Kansas, Marilyn Hackbarth of California, and Lorraine Prust of Juneau; a brother-in-law, Jerome (Janet) Pieper of Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Twyla was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Les Schwoch, and a grandson, Jason Muenchow.
