Dodge County 4th Graders Invited to Persuade
Five Fortunate Fourth Grade Classes will Win Chance to Participate in Wisconsin’s Annual First Tree Cutting with 6th Alice in Dairyland
Beaver Dam, Wisconsin 4th Grade Classes throughout Dodge County have a unique opportunity? they could “win” a chance to participate in “Wisconsin’s Annual First Tree Cutting with Alice in Dairyland” being hosted right here in Dodge County!
On Friday, November 13, the 68th Alice in Dairyland, Teyanna Loether, will be back in Dodge County at the Propst Tree Farm in Beaver Dam for this ceremonial event. Five fortunate fourth grade classes from across the county will be selected to share in this once in a lifetime learning adventure, where they will journey among the trees and various educational stations to discover first-hand from “Alice” and Propst Tree Farm owners more about Wisconsin and our Christmas Tree industry.
In order to participate, 4th graders must persuade the Dodge County Alice in Dairyland Special Events Committee that their class should be among the five classes picked. Learners are invited to write a letter, poem, make a video, or create another form of persuasive piece that convinces the committee their class should be selected to participate in this unique opportunity.
Entries must be submitted by Monday, November 2nd at 4:00 pm CST. Strong entries will strive to meet CCSS English Language Arts Standards for 4th grade.
Why is Dodge County Hosting the “Alice” Tree Cutting?
The Christmas tree cutting by Alice in Dairyland is an annual tradition held each year on a different tree farm in a different county in our state. Dodge County is this year’s location because Dodge was selected to host the 69th Alice in Dairyland Finals on May 5-7, 2016. The tree cutting event will be one of many in the next several months in Dodge County leading up to the selection of the 69th Alice in Dairyland.

Who is Alice in Dairyland?
Alice in Dairyland is an employee of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) and serves one year as Wisconsin’s Agricultural Ambassador educating media, students and communities about our state’s $88 billion agriculture industry.
