Obituary: Ronald R. Halfmann

Ronald R. Halfmann, age 78, of Beaver Dam, died Monday, February 29, 2016 at Hillside Manor.

Visitation for Ron will be at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Thursday, March 3, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A visitation will also take place at St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam on Friday, March 4, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. A funeral service will take place at St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church on Friday, March 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens in the Town of Trenton.

Ronald was born to Warner and Leona (Voeltner) Halfmann on December 21, 1937 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. Ron graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1957 On September 29, 1962 Ron was united in marriage to Judy A. Jones at St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. 

Ronald served as a police officer in Beaver Dam for 28 years, and retired as a lieutenant in 1995. In retirement, Ron drove funeral coach for Banes Funeral Coach service in Beaver Dam for many years. He was a member of St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church. Ron was an avid sports fan, he enjoyed all sports, especially bowling. He bowled in the Beaver Dam Men’s League for many years and enjoyed the annual trips to the National Bowling Tournament.  Ron was a member of the Beaver Dam Bowling Association since 1959, and was a member of the Beaver Dam Men’s Bowling Association Hall of Fame. Ron also loved hunting and would go to South Dakota for pheasant hunting every year.  He met many of the local folks in South Dakota who became a second family to Ron. Ron was always very compassionate and, on several occasions, made room for others in his home when they needed a place to stay.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Halfmann of Beaver Dam; two children, Ronda (Doug) Mack of Berlin, Rob Halfmann of Beaver Dam; two grandchildren, Amanda and Joshua Mack, his sister; Mary Ann Halfmann of Beaver Dam, other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  Ron was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Richard Halfmann.

Memorials may be directed to St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.
