Obituary: Kathryn A. Miller

Kathryn A. Miller, age 90, died peacefully on April 15, 2016 at Hillside Manor surrounded by her family. She was born in Mayville, Wisconsin on November 5, 1925, to Steve and Elizabeth (Marloch) Buhalog. She grew up in Horicon and graduated from Horicon High School. On November 21, 1946 she married Orville Kiesow with whom she raised seven children, helped run Kiesow Floral and Greenhouses, and co-owned The Knit and Craft Studio. She also worked for “Doc” Karsten, Marlin Toy, Gardner Manufacturing, Mayville Metal, and West Bend Company.

In 1975 she married Robert Miller and lived in New Mexico and Florida before returning to Wisconsin (Friendship) in 1984. Eventually, she moved back to Horicon spending much of her time with her beloved grandchildren. Finally, Kathryn made Beaver Dam her home enjoying lots of old and new friends. She loved Mass at St. Katherine Drexel and family get-togethers.

She is survived by her sister Judy (Ron) Gumper, Bradenton, FL; sister-in-law Arlene Buhalog, Horicon; brother-in-law Bud Peters, Santa Barbara,CA; children: Jim Kiesow, Jacksonville, IL; John (Linda) Kiesow, Monona, WI; Jerry Kiesow, Jeff (Lauren) Kiesow, Jack (Sharon) Kiesow, all of Horicon; Jane (Ed) Thurow, DePere, WI; Joel (Brenda) Kiesow, Beaver Dam. 16 grandchildren: Kay, Tim, Sarah; Matthew, Caylyn, Lindsey; Katie, Micah; Ryan, Jared; Quinn, Erin; Jennifer, Sandra; Taylor, Abby. 13 great-grandchildren: Caroline, William, Augustus; Charlotte, Margaret, Emilia; Katelyn, Jake; Julian, Levon; Johnnie; Jackson, Maya.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Arthur and her sisters Betty, Rosemary, and Elaine.

The memorial gathering for Kathryn will be at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Beaver Dam on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at the church on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Mike Erwin officiating. Inurnment will be at St. Malachy Cemetery in Horicon.

If desired, memorials may be made in Kathryn A. Miller’s name to St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church.
