Obituary: Arlene F. Hauptli (Zimmerman)

Arlene F. Hauptli (Zimmerman), age 85, of Columbus and formerly of Marshall (Lowell) joined her beloved husband in heaven on Thursday, July 21, 2016.

The visitation will be at United Methodist Church in Lowell on Monday, July 25, 2016 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. There will also be a visitation at the church on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 am. Burial will be at Lowell Cemetery.

Arlene Zimmerman was born on July 11, 1931 in the Sun Prairie Township, the daughter of Richard and Ella (Starker) Zimmerman. On September 2, 1959 she was united in marriage to William Hauptli at the Methodist Church in Marshall. Arlene was on the farm with her husband, Bill in the Reeseville area for 22 years. She worked at Green Giant in Beaver Dam for 20 years and the Wisconsin Cheeseman for 20 years. She was an active member of Lowell United Methodist Church. She was on the board and membership list. She was on the nomination committee in 1987 for a number of years. Arlene was a member of the U.M.W. where she was on the sunshine committee. She would always go to church if the weather was okay. Arlene liked gardening, going to her children’s homes to visit, and playing cards. She liked to help others as often as she could. Arlene loved her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren and all the rest of the families.

Survivors include four sons, Robert (Debra), Waterloo; Gary, Waterloo; Ralph (Ruth), Madison; Daniel, Reeseville; and one daughter Darlene (Jerry) Zabel, Baraboo; ten grandchildren, Christopher, Nicholas (Denise), Sheena, Shawn Zabel, Kari (Tom) Davidson, Angela, Justin (Brandi) Shelby, Lukas, and Benjamin Hauptli; two step-grandchildren, Justin (Heidi) Stegerson and Andrea Segerson (Delano) Bingham; 13 great grandchildren, Haydn and Paytn Hauptli, Ashlee and Sierra Zabel, Eli, Ruthy, Micah, Olivia, Anna, and Maribeth Davidson, Mckenna, Jocelyn, Charlee Rai, and Justin Hauptli; six step great grandchildren, Janessa, Jasmine, and Emmanuel Bingham, Tyler Bryce and Mallory Segerson; sister, Frieda Raether of Sun Prarie; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bill; one grandson, Daniel Jr., one daughter-in-law, Jannine; three brothers, Clarence, Elmer, and Chester Zimmerman; four sisters, Adeline Zimmerman, Evelyn Yerges Esther Soldner, Dora Ott, and Leota Nelson.
