Obituary: Gladys Marie Dallman

Gladys Marie Dallman, 83, of Markesan was called by her Savior on August 5, 2016, at home surrounded by her family.  

Gladys was born January 9, 1933 in the township of Randolph, WI to Arthur and Martha (Kantorowicz) Tessmann. She was baptized January 10, 1933 at the family homestead near Friesland, WI and was confirmed in 1946, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Friesland. Gladys graduated from Randolph High School in 1950. She received her teaching degree from Columbia County Normal School in Columbus, WI and taught school for several years. On June 28, 1953, she was united in marriage to Elden Dallman of Markesan.   After their marriage, they farmed south of Markesan for 9 years. In 1962, they moved to Markesan and became owners of Markesan Implement where Gladys served as the bookkeeper until their retirement.  She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Markesan. Gladys had served as Treasurer for the Manchester Senior Citizens and Markesan Neighborhood Watch. She enjoyed reading, music, visiting and family gatherings.  

Gladys is survived by her husband of 63 years, Elden; her children, Debra (Mike) McGuire of Marquette,  Dave (Peggy)  Dallman of Blue Mounds, Diane (Dennis) Floeter of rural Markesan and Daryl (Christine) Dallman of rural Dalton; her grandchildren, Michael (Mary) McGuire, Michelle McGuire, Melissa McGuire, Jason (Kristen) Dallman, Lyndsey (Rick) Garske, Nick Nelson, Brian Floeter, and Becca (Abram) Vaccaro; her great-grandchildren; Lyric Garske, Griffin Garske and Stella Dallman. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law and their wives; Donald (Patricia) Dallman and Russell (Beverly) Dallman; sisters-in-law, Eloise Galow, Donna Ponto and Ann Tessmann; many dear nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Gladys was  preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Martha (Kantorowicz) Tessmann; Elden’s parents, Frank and Ella (Grahn) Dallman; infant daughter Doreen in 1961; sister Marjorie Prochnow Redman; brother Louis Tessmann; brothers-in-law, Alvin Prochnow, Eldon Ponto, Earl Galow and Robert Redman.  

A Memorial service for Gladys will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Markesan with Pastor Jason Jobs officiating.  A visitation will be held at 9:00 am until the time of service. A fellowship lunch will be served immediately following the service at the church.  Interment will be held at a later date at Lake Maria Cemetery, Town of Manchester.
