A Week at the lake

Brian Wolf

In mid June we spent a week at Hatch Lake in northern MN.  We were about a half hour north of Grand Rapids, MN.  This is the second trip we have made there with my oldest son, Andrew; his fiancé, Ashley; and grandchildren Isaac (4); and Ivy (just under 2).  The weather wasn’t the most cooperative as it was relatively cold, rainy, overcast or windy.  It did not necessarily disturb fishing, but we sure took quick advantage of those days we did see some sun.  We caught crappies, bluegill, largemouth bass and northern pike.  The photo of my wife, Sue, is with a monster northern pike.  It was just over 44 inches.  The resort owner has had the place for 20 years and this is the largest fish he has seen come out of the lake.  It beat his by 2”.  All in all it was a great week fishing, spending time with the grand kids and grandpa even got a couple of nature pics to add to his portfolio.
