Obituary: Stephen Duane “Buck” Kahler

The world lost a renowned sports expert and enthusiast, Stephen Duane “Buck” Kahler on August 20, 2016 as a result of an accident at home.

Buck was born in Reedsburg, WI on September 1, 1950 to Margaret (Lowe) and William Kahler. He spent his youth in Wisconsin Dells, graduating from Wisconsin Dells High School in 1968, where he was a key member of the legendary 1968 state-bound basketball team. On September 25, 1976, he married Mary Matthiesen. He is also survived by his son, Kyle (Yvonne Amport); his daughter, Marisa (Matt Hoffman); his brothers, Bill, Larry “Bull”, Karl “Butch”; his sisters, Dale Lynn and Kathy; and further survived by many brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Buck’s love for life will forever be remembered by those who knew him. The family would like to thank the Beaver Dam EMTs who responded, as well as the caring staff from both the Beaver Dam Community Hospital and UW Hospital.

Visitation for Buck will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 4 – 7 pm at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam. Visitation will also be held on Friday, August 26 from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 11 am at Cornerstone with Rev. Terry Larson officiating. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, Beaver Dam.
