Arlene R. Nowak (Klas), age 89, of Beaver Dam, died on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
The visitation will be at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 511 South Spring Street, in Beaver Dam on Monday, September 12, 2016 from 10:00 am until 11:20 am. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at church on Monday at 11:30 am with Fr. Erick Cassiano officiating. Burial will be at St. Michael Cemetery following the Mass.
The former Arlene Ruby Klas was born on March 12, 1927 in Beaver Dam Wisconsin to Ervin and Helen (Kostolni) Klas. She was a 1945 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. On May 5, 1951 Arlene was united in marriage to Francis “Doc” Nowak at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. After Arlene’s children grew older, she worked for Wayland Academy, tending laundry and maintaining the grounds. She retired after 17 years. Arlene enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, crocheting, and bingo with casino runs.
Surviving are her children, Christine Braskamp of Janesville, Ronald of Menasha, Katie Rusk of Torrence, CA, Michael (Juliet) of Columbus, Sally Nowak of Tacoma, WA, and Donna (Mel) Goss of Beaver Dam; seven grandchildren, Duane (Carrie) Braskamp, Brandon (Rachel), Kyle, and Mitchell Goss, and Gregory (Stephanie), Andy, and Travis Nowak; three great grandchildren, Kate, Grant, and Elisza; her brother-in-law Donald Jaehnke; sister-in-law, Carol Klas; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Richard (Laura) and Lloyd; sisters, Patricia and Barbara (John), and infant sister, Caroline.
