Here’s Superbeav prowling for bad guys on National Comic Book Day.  
The Golden Age of Comics began in 1938 with the creation of Superman.  Since then, we have burned through the Silver & Bronze Ages and we are presently firmly embedded in the Modern Age of Comic Books, which includes some rather sophisticated and beautifully illustrated “Graphic Novels.”
So, if you know a student who is experiencing some difficulty learning to read or has not yet discovered the “pleasure of reading,” then you may wish to visit a comic book shop and spring for a couple of modern-age comics.
