Evelyn L. Klas, 93, of Beaver Dam passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at her home.
Evelyn was born the daughter of Edwin and Rose (Spiel) Diefenbach on October 27, 1922 in township of Westford, Dodge County. Evelyn was a graduate of St. Peter’s Catholic School, and a 1940 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. She was married to Lester Klas on December 4, 1943 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. She was employed with Newton-Wentz and retired from Jay Kay Fabric in Beaver Dam. Evelyn enjoyed her many years working as a seamstress in Beaver Dam. She was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish in Beaver Dam.
Evelyn is survived by her children: James Klas of Plainfield, IN and Sharon (Mike) Harmsen of Beaver Dam; her grandchildren: Tammy (Todd) Sether of Beaver Dam, Jeffrey Klas of Oakland, CA, and Thomas Bereza of OH; her great-grandchildren: Kennedy and Rylan; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lester in 1993; her daughter, Kathleen in 1993; her grandson, James in 1992; and her brother, Walter Diefenbach, and her daughter-in-law, Sharon Klas.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2016 at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Deacon Ed Cody will officiate. A visitation will also be held on Friday from Noon until the time of the service. Interment will take place at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery, Beaver Dam.
