Obituary: Wayne M. Wiersma

Wayne M. Wiersma, age 68 of rural Randolph, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, October 18, 2016.

Wayne was born on November 11, 1947 at home in Columbia County, the son of Clifford and Alberta (Boomsma) Wiersma Sr. On August 19, 1967, he was united in marriage to Thelma Schaalma at Second Christian Reformed Church in Randolph. Over the years, Wayne served as a deacon and elder at Second Christian Reformed Church. He worked at the Randolph Feed Mill, Double S Fertilizer, as a commercial sprayer, and W.D. Navis, as a truck driver for the past 15 years. He enjoyed mowing lawn, taking fishing trips to Minnesota with friends, going to restaurants and visiting with people. He treasured the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Thelma of rural Randolph; his children, Joel (Sheri) Wiersma of Beaver Dam and Brenda (Randy) Nickel of Randolph; his five grandchildren, Seth and Chloe Nickel, Levi, Sidney and Micah Wiersma; his four brothers, Norman (Ardis) of Randolph, Clifford Jr. “Bud” of Mayville, Eugene (Linda) of Randolph and Marvin (Karen) of Cambria; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and other relatives.

Visitation for Wayne will be held on Friday, October 21, 2016 from 4 – 7 p.m. at Second Christian Reformed Church, 332 Tamarack Street, Randolph. Visitation will also be held on Saturday, prior to the funeral service at church, beginning at 10 a.m.

A funeral service for Wayne will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Second Christian Reformed Church, Randolph with Rev. Keith Buist officiating. Burial will take place at Randolph Cemetery.
