Bri George

By: Schauer Arts Center - Hartford, WI

The Schauer School of the Arts is excited to welcome Bri George to its expert dance faculty.  George will teach advanced ballet classes including Ballet 4 and Pointe. These classes began in September and culminate in the annual May dance showcase, Leaps and Bounds.

“Many schools follow a strict syllabus which sometimes limits what the students are allowed to learn and advance to,” says George. “But here I can work closely which each student and focus on their strengths, needs, and advancements.”  With a focus on helping young dancers learn the fundamentals while challenging more experienced students to think on their toes, students are certain to grow as dancers under her tutelage.

“Working with Bri helps us provide our students with a complete education that begins at three years old and works its way up to the advanced levels where dancers have the ability and skill to dance professionally,” says Melissa Arnold, Education Coordinator for the Schauer School of the Arts.

George began her early training at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet under the direction of Marcia Dale Weary for 11 years. After attending summer training in 2007 at the School of American Ballet, she was offered a scholarship to Boston Ballet as a trainee where she performed in Swan Lake and The Nutcracker. In 2008, she joined Orlando Ballet’s second company. During her time with OBII she placed in top 12 for classical at YAGP, and 2nd in contemporary in Florida Regionals.

In 2009, George was asked to join Orlando Ballet’s professional company. During her six seasons with Orlando Ballet she performed many leading roles such as White Swan from Swan Lake, Sugar Plum, Dew Drop, and Snow Queen in The Nutcracker, Ursula from The Little Mermaid, Witch from Snow White, and Zulma from Giselle.  Career highlights include performing alongside Mariah Carey in Disney’s Christmas Parade, and choreographing with Cirque Du Soleil for A Choreographer’s Workshop.

“I am very excited for our students to have the chance to work with someone who has the amazing experience that Bri has,” adds Arnold. “It's an opportunity that many young dancers in small towns never get.”

The Schauer School of the Arts is dedicated to providing artistic opportunities for all ages and skill levels in music, visual art, drama, and dance. Classes are available for all ages (from preschool through adult) and skill levels and explore a wide variety of styles.  New students are accepted year-round.
