Obituary: Marie C. Wapneski

Marie C. Wapneski, age 86 of Beaver Dam, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2016 at Landmark Charleston House in Beaver Dam with her family by her side.

Marie was born on January 20, 1930 in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Marcel and Angeline (Polzin) Sadowski. She graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1948. On June 10, 1950, she was united in marriage to Joseph “Joe” Wapneski at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. She worked as a nurses aid at Hillside and Lakeview Hospitals for over 38 years. She was a former member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and currently was a member at Annunciation Catholic Parish in Fox Lake, where she served as an usher and greeter for 14 years.

Marie was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother (Busha) and great-grandmother. She enjoyed fishing, crocheting, reading, cooking, baking, flower gardening, watching birds and attending flea markets. She was an avid Packers and Brett Favre fan, and she treasured her 1966 and 1984 Ford Mustangs.

Marie is survived by her husband, Joe of Beaver Dam; children, Tom (Patti) Wapneski of Beaver Dam, Susan (Jerry) Inman of Idaho, Michael Wapneski of Beaver Dam, David Wapneski of Platteville and Victoria (Lee) Wiersma of Sun Prairie; grandchildren, Shelley, Tracey, TJ, Joe, Jenny, Nicholas, Molly and Benjamin; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Phillip (Audrey) Sadowski, Charles (Sandy) Sadowski and Darlene Zimmerman, all of Beaver Dam; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Delores, Bernice and James; and other relatives.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Marie will be celebrated on Friday, November 4, 2016 at Annunciation Catholic Parish, 305 Green St., Fox Lake at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be held prior to the Mass at church, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow the Mass at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery, Beaver Dam with a luncheon to be served at Cornerstone.
