Obituary: Bonnie J. Berndt

Bonnie J. Berndt, 80, of Beaver Dam passed away unexpectedly into the loving arms of her Savior and reunited with her beloved husband Clifford on Wednesday, November 9, 2016.

Bonnie was born the daughter of Henry and Hazel (Miller) Erdmann on August 13, 1936 in Watertown.  She was a 1954 graduate of Fall River High School and also attended Madison Normal Business School.  She was married to Clifford C. Berndt on May 18, 1957 at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Columbus.

Bonnie was a proud and loving wife and mother of eight children.  Raising her family was her greatest accomplishment.  Bonnie raised her family with faith, love and stability.  She was always there for them.  After raising her family, Bonnie worked for many proud years at Lakeview Nursing Home as a nursing assistant.  Bonnie was a faithful member of St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.  

Bonnie is survived by her children: Darryl (Kris) Berndt of Columbus, Tom (Lauria) Berndt of Columbus, Nancy (Kevin) Posthuma of Beaver Dam, Randy Berndt of South San Francisco, CA, Jerry (Sandie) Berndt of Kokomo, IN, and Patti (Lee) England of Columbus; her siblings: Mabel (Arnie) Oelke of Fall River, Judy (DuWayne) Hatzinger of Fall River, and Jim Erdmann of Beaver Dam; 11 grandchildren: Justin (Kara) Berndt, Brian (fiancée Alicia Hutter) Berndt, Jeremy Berndt, Carrie (Tony) Loecher, Tim Berndt, Ashley Berndt, Katie (fiancé Tim Bain) Posthuma, Austin Berndt, Adam Berndt, Emily England and Joshua England; seven great-grandchildren: twins, Jackson and Cohen, Ellasyn, twins, Luke and Ethan, Dana, and Lillylyn; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clifford in 2008, her son Jeffery Berndt, daughter, Pamela Denninger, grandson, Douglas Berndt, her brothers: Russell in infancy and Henry “Butch” Erdmann, sisters: Arlene Weinberger and Millie Firary.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral at 2 p.m.  The Rev. Philip Heyer will officiate.  Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery, Columbus, WI the following day.

Memorials may be directed to St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.
