Obituary: David P. Henkel

David P. Henkel, 65, of Juneau, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison.

David was born to Norbert and Elsie (Tarr) Henkel on June 4, 1951 in Mayville. He served in the United States Marine Corps in California. David worked for Purity Cheese in Mayville, Green Giant in Mayville and Beaver Dam, and then for many years, at the Target Distribution Center in Oconomowoc.

David was a very outgoing person. He would do anything, for anyone. He loved fishing, and riding his Harley.

Survivors include; the love of his life (his little flower) Debbie Kintopp of 36 years, and their lonely cat “Spare”; daughter, Theresa Tafoya of California; four grandchildren; father, Norbert Henkel of Markesan; Brothers, Ronald (Marsha) Henkel of Eagle River, Larry Henkel of Lomira, Daniel (Pam) Henkel of Glen Haven, and Richard Henkel of Berlin. Extended family that meant so much to David; Barb Kintopp of Beaver Dam, Roger (Kim) Kintopp of Mayville, Jeff (Sue) Husslein of Iron Ridge, Neal (Diane) Pasbrig of Coloma, Chad (Lori) Minnema and family of Juneau, and Michael (Shelly) Hickmann of Madison; nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, that meant the world to him, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie in 2000, and a brother, Chuck in 2004. 

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Military Honors will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. by the Beaver Dam American Legion Post #146.

The family of David would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at the VA Hospital for everything they did for David; they also became Dave and Deb’s extended family.
