Obituary: Gladys J. Parker

Gladys J. Parker, age 96, of Beaver Dam, went to her heavenly home on Friday, December 9, 2016.

Visitation for Gladys will be at St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m.  Funeral services will follow at church on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Paul Stratman officiating.  Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Beaver Dam. 

Gladys was born the daughter of John and Lydia (Borde) Nintzel on December 25, 1919 in Otsego, Columbia County, Wisconsin.  She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Doylestown.  She married Lee Parker on September 18, 1948 at St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.  She was employed as a cook in the Beaver Dam School District for 18 years.  In 1978, she was president of the Wisconsin School Food Service Association for District 13.  Gladys did volunteer work for her church, Golden Living Nursing Home, and many years for Bethesda.  She was a member of St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. 

Survivors include her two daughters, Janice (Stephen) Miller of Westfield, IN and Jeanne (Michael) Lammers of Beaver Dam; two sisters, Violet Burmeister of Portage and Jeanette Christian of Randolph; a brother-in-law, Richard Parker of Beaver Dam; her grandchildren, Anthony (Jennifer) Miller of Wolfe Island, Canada and Michelle (Joshua) Thomas of Anderson, IN; great grandchildren, Hannah Miller, Gabriel Miller, Elisha Miller, Ezra Miller, Benjamin Miller, and Layla Thomas; nieces, nephews, and close friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lee in 1990; two sisters, Evelyn Stofflet and Irene Schroeder; an infant brother; and brothers-in-law, Harold Stofflet, Earl Schroeder, Howard Burmeister, and Charles Christian.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.
